PASTURE: Land has become scarce in Bishop Clarence Miller’s former settlement in Clark, Mo., so he moved over 75 miles north to Brashear, Mo., where land is still abundant, Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010. Sharon Marohl, a business owner in Clark that caters to the Amish community, said that most families own 50 acres – Miller currently owns 238 acres. This land was left over from a Pennsylvania settlement that could not work with Missouri soil.
